Clarity
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Toastfield ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with Clarity. The short version: we collect nothing. Your data stays on your device.
Quick summary
Fully local
All decision data is stored on your device with SwiftData. No cloud sync. No server storage.
No account needed
No email, no name, no sign-in. We collect zero personal information.
No data sharing
We share nothing with anyone. No analytics. No advertising. No tracking.
1. What We Collect
Clarity collects no personal information. We have designed this application from the ground up to be fully offline and privacy-preserving. Specifically:
- →Personal information: None. No account required. No email, name, phone number, or any personally identifiable information is collected by Toastfield.
- →Decision data: Stored locally on your device only. Never transmitted to any server. See Section 2.
- →Notification data: Processed locally by iOS. Never sent to our servers. See Section 3.
2. Locally Stored Data
All data you create in Clarity is stored on your device in the app's private local storage area. This includes:
- —Decision records: The title, context, date, status, urgency level, and goal category you assign to each decision.
- —Goal categories: The personal goal categories you define (e.g., "Career," "Health").
- —Status history: The timeline of status changes for each decision.
- —Theme preference: Your selected color theme, stored in iOS UserDefaults.
None of this data is transmitted to Toastfield's servers or any third party. It exists only on your device. Deleting the app permanently removes all this data — this action cannot be undone and the data cannot be recovered by us.
3. Local Notifications
If you set reminders for pending decisions, Clarity uses iOS's local notification system (UserNotifications framework) to deliver those reminders. This process:
- —Is handled entirely by iOS on your device
- —Does not involve any server communication
- —Does not transmit any data to Toastfield or any third party
You can manage notification permissions at any time in Settings → Notifications → Clarity on your iOS device.
4. Third-Party Links
Clarity's About screen includes links to two optional third-party destinations, plus a data export feature:
The app's About screen includes a link to our Instagram page. Tapping this link opens Instagram or your browser. We do not receive any personal data from this interaction. Visiting is entirely optional and governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.
Optional feedback (Google Forms)
The app's About screen includes an optional link to a feedback form hosted on Google Forms. Submitting feedback is entirely voluntary. Any information you choose to submit is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We receive your feedback responses directly from Google Forms. If you prefer not to share data with Google, do not submit the form.
CSV export via share sheet
The app's About screen lets you export your decision data as a CSV file through iOS's standard share sheet (Mail, Messages, AirDrop, Files, or a third-party app of your choosing). This is entirely optional and under your control. Where the exported file goes after that is your choice and is governed by the destination app or service's own privacy practices.
We use no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or any other embedded third-party tracking tools in Clarity.
5. Data Retention
Because Clarity stores all data locally on your device:
- —Your data is retained for as long as the app is installed on your device.
- —Deleting the app permanently removes all data associated with it. This cannot be undone.
- —We hold no server-side copy of any of your decision data. We cannot recover it for you.
We strongly recommend backing up your iOS device regularly via iCloud Backup or Apple's macOS backup tools to protect your data.
6. Security
Because Clarity stores all data locally and transmits nothing to servers, your data security depends primarily on:
- —Your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID settings
- —iOS's app sandboxing, which prevents other apps from accessing your data
- —Keeping your device and iOS up to date
We do not maintain any servers that store your data, eliminating the risk of a server-side breach affecting your decision records.
7. Children's Privacy
Clarity is appropriate for users of all ages as it collects no personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — in fact, we collect no personal information from anyone. Parents and guardians should be aware that decision content entered into the app is stored locally on the device and is accessible to anyone with access to that device.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Because Clarity collects no personal information and stores all data locally on your device, traditional data subject rights (access, correction, deletion) are exercised directly through the app or by deleting the app.
- →Access your data: View all your decisions directly in the app at any time.
- →Correct your data: Edit any decision directly in the app.
- →Delete your data: Delete individual decisions in the app, or delete the app entirely to remove all data.
If you have questions about your privacy in connection with Clarity, contact us at info@toastfield.com.
9. California Residents — CCPA Rights
Clarity does not collect personal information as defined under the CCPA. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. No CCPA obligations are triggered because we collect none of the categories of personal information the CCPA covers.
10. European Residents — GDPR Rights
Clarity does not process personal data as defined under the GDPR. All data is stored on-device and never transmitted to our servers. The GDPR's requirements regarding lawful basis, data transfers, and data subject rights are not triggered because we process no personal data.
