Musical Pets
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Toastfield ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with Musical Pets. The short version: we collect almost nothing, and your music data never leaves your device.
Quick summary
Apple Music data
Processed on your device only. Never uploaded to any server. Ever.
Game data
Stored locally on your device using SwiftData. No cloud sync. No server.
Personal info
We collect none. No account required. No email. No name. No server storage.
1. What We Collect
Musical Pets is designed with privacy as a core principle. We collect no personally identifiable information. No account is required. No data is stored on our servers. The breakdown:
- →Apple Music metadata: With your permission, accessed on-device only. Never uploaded. See Section 2 for full details.
- →Game state: Stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Never transmitted to our servers. See Section 3.
- →In-app purchases: Processed entirely by Apple. We receive only a confirmation of entitlement. See Section 4.
2. Apple Music Data
With your explicit permission, Musical Pets uses Apple's MusicKit framework to read metadata from your Apple Music library. Specifically, we access:
- —Genre information for your most-played songs
- —Artist names associated with your listening history
- —Play counts used to determine listening weight
This data stays on your device, with one narrow exception.
Your Apple Music metadata is processed entirely on-device using Apple's MusicKit framework. It is used only to generate your in-game world, biomes, and creature traits, and is saved locally — never transmitted to Toastfield's servers, never stored in our cloud, and never shared with any third party by us. The one exception: an optional "related music" feature sends only the name of your top artist directly to Apple's own Music Catalog API (a service operated by Apple, not by us) to look up related content. No other library metadata is included in that request, and it goes to Apple, not to Toastfield.
You may revoke Musical Pets's access to your Apple Music library at any time by going to Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music on your iOS device. Revoking access will prevent new world generation but will not affect your existing locally saved game data.
Apple's MusicKit framework access is governed by Apple's Developer Program License Agreement and Apple's Privacy Policy.
3. Game Data (Local Storage)
All game data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This includes:
- —Your collected creatures, including their species, rarity, attributes, and evolution level
- —World state: current Harmony balance, unlocked biomes, and biome mastery status
- —Achievement and goals progress
- —Weekly recap data
- —Your music identity profile (derived on-device from your Apple Music data)
None of this data is transmitted to any server. It exists only on your device. Deleting the app permanently deletes all associated game data — this action cannot be undone.
4. In-App Purchases
Musical Pets currently has no in-app purchases — the game is entirely free to play, and in-game currencies ("Harmony" and "Gems") are earned through gameplay, not purchased with real money.
If we introduce optional real-money purchases in the future (for example, cosmetic items), they will be processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We would not receive your payment card number, billing address, or any payment details — only a confirmation of purchase entitlement from Apple. We will update this Privacy Policy before any such feature ships.
5. Third-Party Services
Apple MusicKit
Used to access Apple Music library metadata on-device. All data remains on your device, except that an optional "related music" feature sends your top artist's name to Apple's Music Catalog API. Governed by Apple's Developer Program License Agreement and Apple's Privacy Policy.
We use no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking tools in Musical Pets.
6. Data Retention
Because all data is stored locally on your device:
- —Your data is retained for as long as the app is installed on your device.
- —Deleting the app permanently removes all associated data. This cannot be undone.
- —We hold no server-side copy of any of your data.
7. Security
Because Musical Pets stores all data locally on your device and transmits nothing to external servers, your data security depends primarily on your device's own security measures — device passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and iOS sandboxing.
We do not maintain any servers that store your data, eliminating the risk of a server-side data breach affecting your information.
8. Children's Privacy
Musical Pets is rated for general audiences (Apple App Store 4+) and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Using Musical Pets's Apple Music integration requires an Apple Music subscription or iTunes library, which in turn requires an Apple ID — Apple's own age requirements and Family Sharing / parental controls govern Apple ID creation and Apple Music access for minors. Without an Apple Music connection, Musical Pets can still be played with a default, non-personalized world.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Because Musical Pets collects no personal information and stores all data locally on your device, most traditional privacy rights (access, correction, deletion) are exercised directly through the app or by deleting the app.
If you have questions or concerns about your privacy in connection with Musical Pets, contact us at info@toastfield.com.
10. California Residents — CCPA Rights
Musical Pets does not collect personal information as defined under the CCPA. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. No action is required to exercise CCPA rights regarding this Application because we collect none of the categories of personal information the CCPA covers.
11. European Residents — GDPR Rights
Musical Pets does not process personal data as defined under the GDPR. All data is stored on-device and never transmitted to our servers. The GDPR's requirements regarding lawful basis, data transfers, and data subject rights are not triggered because we process no personal data.
If you have questions, contact us at info@toastfield.com.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, through an app update notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
